Two routes designed to help you discover Angers on the go
If you'd like to stroll around Angers with your nose to the wind, letting the wind guide your steps, we recommend two routes ! One, the blue one, is marked directly on the ground in Angers city centre and takes you on a loop around this part of the city. The other, the orange one, is to be followed with the Angers tourist map to explore the medieval district of La Doutre, on the other side of the Maine.
Follow the Fil Bleu for a stroll through the city centre
Sometimes it's not so easy to find your way around an unfamiliar town: the Fil bleu is designed to make sure you don't miss out on any of the heritage treasures in the heart of Angers. Starting from the Tourist Office, just a stone's throw from Angers Castle, you'll follow a 2.8 km circuit, lasting around 1 hour and a half. The walk will take you through the key heritage sites in Angers city centre: the château, the medieval town, the cathedral, not to mention the Maison d'Adam (undergoing renovation until summer 2024), the Pincé museum and the park and cloister of the Musée des Beaux-Arts. Perfect for exploring the city centre for the first time, and for spotting places you can visit with the Angers City Pass!
Get inspired by the orange route to discover La Doutre
On the other side of the Maine, once you have crossed the river, you enter the pretty Doutre district. Here, too, what's on offer is well worth the diversion. The orange circuit is the perfect guide for a stroll between wonderful heritage (Place du Tertre Saint-Laurent and Place de la Paix) and bucolic peace (the banks of the Maine and the gardens of the Musée Jean Lurçat and the Musée de la Tapisserie Contemporaine). It's the ideal complement to the Fil bleu for a first taste of Angers!

Strolls through the parks of the city of plants
The importance of plants in the heart of Angers is one of the city's greatest assets! Whatever the season, its many parks are a riot of colours, scents and greenery, like so many bubbles of air allowing you to breathe and recharge your batteries in nature.
Nature in the heart of the city!
The Jardin des Plantes, the Jardin du Mail and the Musée des Beaux-Arts garden are waiting for you! Ideal spots for a picnic, reading or playing with the kids, these three central parks with their very different styles are sure to be on the itinerary when you visit the city.
And further afield?
If you're a keen walker or cyclist, you don't need to go any further than Parc Balzac, Parc Saint-Nicolas or even Lac de Maine and Île Saint-Aubin. Larger and "wilder", these parks are real islands of greenery just a stone's throw from Angers city centre.
