Formerly the residence of Marcel Avril de Pignerolle, the last director of the equestrian academy of Angers, it hosted the president of the Republic of Poland and his staff in-exile from 1939 to 1940. It was the occupation by the German army (1942-1944), though, that especially marked the Parc de Pignerolle, and the ten bunkers built between 1942 and 1943 can still be seen today.

The Association du Mémorial des Bunkers de Pignerolle organizes guided tours of the bunkers. Visits are by reservation only, usually on Tuesdays and Sunday afternoons at 2.30 p.m. (other time slots can be arranged on request according to the availability of guides).
For school visits, the association systematically offers teachers a pre-visit in advance.
Important: Visits only run during the Parc de Pignerolle’s opening times.
