  • Penrose is a cooperative organisation in Beaucouzé, near Angers, combining on a single site, a brewery producing craft beers and kombucha, and an urban mushroom farm. All using organic methods. We brew a range of creative and tasty beers making use of the best raw materials. We also make Kombucha, a dynamic, lightly effervescent, alcohol-free drink with very little sugar and rich in probiotics. Plus, we grow mushrooms in two converted sea containers. Penrose is a cooperative organisation in Beaucouzé, near Angers, combining on a single site, a brewery producing craft beers and kombucha, and an urban mushroom farm. All using organic methods. We brew a range of creative and tasty beers making use of the best raw materials. We also make Kombucha, a dynamic, lightly effervescent, alcohol-free drink with very little sugar and rich in probiotics. Plus, we grow mushrooms in two converted sea containers. We (Antoine, David and Guillaume) are three old friends, promoting the idea of "eating local and healthy" and the values of the social and solidarity economy.

We use cereals, fruits and aromatic plants from organic farms obtained locally where possible to brew our beer and Kombucha. To minimise our carbon footprint, we sell our products in bars, restaurants and small shops in the Angers region.

We are committed to a circular economy approach and plan to use the distillers grains (byproducts from the cereals used in brewing beer) as the substrate for growing our mushrooms.
