L'île Saint-Aubin is known for its important role in river management and is only 2kms from the city centre. It is a rich and colourful patchwork of flood meadows populated by a number of important species of birds including the corncrake.
A renovated farmhouse and a tavern provide a valuable rest stop in this fertile agricultural landscape. The farmhouse houses exhibitions and hosts events to raise awareness of the importance of the area and the other 1700+ NATURA 2000 sites throughout France.
The island is accessible from April. Leave your car in the car park by the River Mayenne cross over on the ferry bridge by bike or on foot .
